Target group: Grades 5-9 & high school
Circus/dance for mental health.
Part 2 of the ConnectArt trilogy – Our relationship to emotions
Activity that provides tools to “connect” with oneself and others.
Daily Program in three parts:
🤹 Circus dance workshop
A playful mindfulness exercise with movement and juggling where we explore how it feels in the body when either resisting or accepting an emotion.
🎭 Film: RISE
Co-production – ConnectArt & GöteborgsOperans Danskompani.
Touching story about trying to avoid and escape from one’s emotions and about how, when curiosity is born, one finds the courage to get in touch with them.
💬 Group reflection with movement
Deepens the understanding of the meaning of emotions – how they feel in the body, what they signal and what tools are available that can create strength and empowerment
Purpose and goal
Strengthen participants’ ability and arouse curiosity to recognize and compassionately accept their emotions. Promote body awareness through movement and circus. Create a safe and inclusive community where everyone can participate on their own terms
For schools that want to delve deeper, we offer a series of three meetings tailored to the needs of the group – e.g. conflict management, creative problem solving or empathetic treatment.
The program is led by Elin Lütke, ConnectArt with more than 25 years of circus experience and Angelina Allen from GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, with more than 25 years of dance experience.

"I think that many young people may never have experienced a workshop like that (...). That young people get to be seen as people, not primarily students, and get to learn something important about being human instead of just all the usual school subjects. You also learn better through lived experience and creation instead of just sitting and listening."
“Thank you for your professional and well-executed work with the students. You have guided and helped them to deal with a difficult area that they rarely have the opportunity to go through in regular teaching.”
“I thought it was very valuable for the students to reflect on what they might need if they feel different emotions.”
“I felt they were very calm and they had a different connection with their emotions. The students also talked about being able to use BEAMS.”
“It was rewarding for all of us to work with our emotions. Professionally done!”
