In collaboration with the Opera, we had the opportunity to meet their youth ambassadors for half a day. Ten curious young people came for a workshop with me and Angelina Allen, former dancer at the Opera. The topic was the relationship to our emotions, how we recognize them in the body, what messages they give us and how we can best handle them. We could have presented a Powerpoint, but no, we offered playful learning through dance, circus and them themselves creating.<\/p>\n\n

We showed our co-production, the dance film Rise, and experimented together how it feels in the body to \u201cresist and accept\u201d the emotions. Then they were given the opportunity to create a short scene about how this feels for them.<\/p>\n\n

Their reflections were touching:<\/p>\n\n

\u201cI think that many young people may never have experienced a workshop like that, where there are no demands at all, and that it can therefore be very good. That young people get to be seen as people, not primarily students, and get to learn something important about being a human being instead of just all the ordinary school subjects<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n\n

What a privilege to work with what we do, it feels so important!<\/p>\n\n
